Hakea is looking for an experienced womenswear designer to support the development of future swim and ready-to-wear collections. This role suits someone with a strong eye for modern, minimal design, who understands both fashion and function — and has worked with swimwear, woven apparel, and sustainable fabrics.
You’ll work closely with the founder to evolve Hakea’s signature silhouettes while introducing thoughtful new pieces that feel aligned with the brand’s aesthetic.
What you’ll be doing:
- Trend forecasting and translating this into commercially viable pieces for Hakea
- Designing swim and apparel styles that balance function and fashion
- Developing tech packs and clear production notes for manufacturers
- Advising on fabric selection with a strong knowledge of sustainable materials
- Refining fits and silhouettes across collections
- Supporting print placement and capsule development
- Collaborating on seasonal drops and long-term product direction
Ideal experience:
- Proven experience in womenswear design across swim and apparel
- Strong understanding of sustainable and performance fabrics (recycled nylons, technical blends, natural fibres)
- Excellent sense of fit, proportion, and modern silhouette
- Experience working with offshore manufacturers
- Ability to work independently and bring considered ideas to the table
Internship

We’re looking for a creative intern who understands TikTok, Instagram, and how brands show up online today. This role is for someone who lives on social media, has a strong eye for aesthetics, and wants hands-on experience creating content for a growing fashion brand.
You’ll work closely with the founder, gaining real experience in content creation, brand storytelling, and community building.
What you'll be doing
- Filming and editing TikTok and Reels content
- Identifying trends and adapting them for Hakea
- Creating swim, surf, and lifestyle content
- Working with existing footage and coming up with new ideas
- Assisting with posting and scheduling content
- Helping grow Hakea’s organic presence on TikTok and Instagram
- Engaging with comments and DMs
- Identifying creators for gifting and assisting with outreach
- Tracking UGC and community insights
- Supporting the content calendar and weekly planning
